The prime of life refers to the stage of becoming a strong adult after one is fully developed and his physical growth has stopped. The concept of physical development in humans denotes the generating process of a framework for a future mature adult, such as the segmentation of the body and the formation of each organ and system, while growth emphasizes the extension and formalization of the final framework. Even so, the process of growth still involves large amounts of cellular differentiation, construction of new fine structures, and modification of the original structures, etc.  Human growth and development can be divided into two stages:

1. Embryonic stage of development, which plays an important role in the development of an individual organism, but it doesn’t mean that all the mature structures and functions are completely developed at the embryonic stage. Instead, from an infant to an adult, the individual organism still keeps exhibiting continuous progression of the developmental process.  This is called the phenomenon of post-embryonic development.

2. Growth stage, which involves an increase in the size of a tissue or organ and in its components. Growth results from an increase in the quantity of cells in tissues or organs, cell growth, and accumulation of intercellular substances such as the deposition of bone matrix components. Moreover, the main point of pubertal development is sexual maturation. Different from the common sexual physiological cycle in multi-cellular organisms, it is a developmental process for an individual to go from immature to mature, including the formation of some new structures. Pubertal development involves development and maturation of sexual glands and auxiliary reproductive organs, appearance and development of secondary sexual characteristics, as well as sexual behavior and psychological development.

When a human embryo implants into the uterus, it is around 150 μm. It takes about 9 months to grow to 50 cm. It is around 1 cm in length in the first 8 weeks, at which time the basic morphogenesis of an individual organism has already completed. Usually rapid growth occurs in the following 4 months, approaching 10 cm each month, which becomes a medical distinction between an embryo and a fetus.  In the first year after birth, the baby grows 2 cm every month on average. Though the growth rate gradually slows down later, the process of growth never stops.  It is when puberty comes that another peak of rapid growth appears, which lasts for around 20 years in total.

In the growth process of an individual organism, different organs or parts of the body have different growth rates at different developmental stages; for example, in the ninth week, the length of a human baby’s head occupies over 1/3 of the whole fetus, and reduces to about 1/4 at birth. After birth, the growth rate of the rest of the body increases. At adulthood, the head occupies only 1/8 of the whole height of a person.

After adulthood, an individual person no longer develops and grows, but goes into the prime of life. Roughly from age 30 to 50, irreversible aging and weakening occurs in a person, including significant decline in physiological functions and successive appearance of all kinds of diseases, especially those age-related ones. The reproductive system, for instance, usually loses its function before the overall senescence occurs in one’s body.

Bones become fragile and are easily broken in old age because of the loss of calcium. Skin tissue becomes loose because the components of elastic fibers in the reticular connective tissue become denatured and disappear. The functions of the nervous system exhibit memory impairment and slow reactions. The immune system also shows a significant decline in its mechanism. The decline in physiological functions of organs and systems not only weaken a living organism’s capacity for self-renewal and self-repair, but also decreases its response and adaptability to the environment, which can directly or indirectly induce every kind of disease.

After the human body completes growth and development, the body functions of an individual will show the irreversibility of overall deterioration with age, while the body functions of the New Human Line are capable to reverse to the prime of life after growth and development stop. Such kind of reversible change is called reversibility to the prime of life, which will occur before physiological functions display significant decline and age-related diseases successively appear.

When the reversibility to the prime of life occurs in the New Human Line, the reproductive system will recover to the functions in adulthood. Bone matrix will deposit and never shows symptoms of losing calcium or becoming fragile or breakable in old age.  The elastic fiber proteins in reticular connective tissue can regain their original natural state even after being denatured, allowing skin tissue to become delicate and tight. The functions of both the nervous system and the immune system can recover to the stage of young adulthood. Physiological functions such as the capacity for self-renewal and self-repair in organs and systems not only return to the original state but also become even stronger, which allows the New Human Line to become more integrated in responding and adapting to the environment. Muscle contraction returns to the prime stage of life in strength, efficiency, and endurance, enabling fast movement and quick reaction. This physical phenomenon of being reversible to the prime of life allows the New Human Line to forever maintain physiological functions in the stage of young adulthood, avoiding overall deterioration with age and preventing all kinds of diseases (p<0.05).
