In the process of evolution, humans have lost most of the regeneration ability which enables the gecko to grow another intact tail after the old one is broken. It is for this reason that the skin of the human body, after being seriously damaged, cannot be completely regrown, but instead be replaced by scar tissue. Thus, the final product of the wound healing process is the scar.

In human skin, the synthesis and metabolism of collagen are maintained in a state of equilibrium. In the process of wound healing, the fibroblasts in the dermis are activated, which leads to rapid fibroblast proliferation and reproduction and then synthesizes swirling masses of overexpressed collagen in random distribution. When the collagen induces contractile forces on the edges of a wound towards its center to promote healing, it will simultaneously cause raised scars.

In addition to pain or discomfort, swelling, itching, pus, tightness, and deformity in the body, the suffering caused by scars also includes psychological problems such as loneliness, helplessness, indifference, rejection, and peculiar looks from others. The most difficult case would result from the scars caused by large area burns. As severe perspiration disorder induces abnormal sweating in the normal skin and affects blood circulation, the scars would become unbearable itchy especially at night, leading to sleep disorders. The victim may need to rely on drugs to fall asleep for a long time.

Treatments of scars include the application of silicone-based scar treatment gels, silicone scar sheets, spa treatments, massage therapy, compression garments, steroid injections, radiotherapy, surgery, dye lasers, pulsed carbon dioxide (CO2) lasers, and erbium lasers, etc. But so far, there is still no perfect scar treatment, so the best way to prevent scarring is not to get injured.

The somatic cells of the New Human Line have the function of super healing, repair, and regeneration and also their skin and subcutaneous tissue have instantaneous healing capacity. The evolutionary emergence of these new physiological functions allows the skin of the New Human Line to completely regenerate without scarring after experiencing severe damage.

The following video and photos show that Mr. Yuan Lin, the first successfully-evolved New Human Line, who was accidentally cut by a pair of poultry shears in his left middle finger, regrew intact skin in the wounded area after the skin and subcutaneous tissue went through instantaneous healing (p=0.000).
