Rapid Decomposition of Blood Lipids

Hyperlipidemia refers to increased levels of cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood. Abnormally elevated levels of blood lipids are the major cause for developing arteriosclerosis, which will increase the probability of developing coronary heart disease (CAD).

A total cholesterol level higher than 240 mg/dL means the individual’s cholesterol level is high and thus is more likely to develop arteriosclerosis. And with low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels more than 160 mg/dL or high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol levels less than 40 mg/dL, the person is also likely to develop coronary artery disease, such as angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, and cerebrovascular infarction.
