Limpets are small snail-like mollusks often seen attached to the rock surface. Scientists recently discovered that limpets’ teeth are the strongest biological material ever tested, five times much stronger than spider silk which used to be regarded as the strongest biological material before. Its tensile strength is as high as 3.0 to 6.5 gigapascals (GPa), while spider silk has a tensile strength of only about 1.3 GPa. The limpet tooth’ strength is a unique structure containing a combination of flexible chitin fibers interspersed with fine crystals of an iron-oxide containing mineral. As a result, Mr. Yuan Lin utilized the Absolutely Constant Energy Source to activate cells to release synthetases, which facilitate the accumulation of iron oxide in chitin and enhance its mineralization, and then combine chitin fibers and filamentous crystals of the iron oxide mineral into the New Chitin-Iron Oxide Composite, which has extremely high hardness and toughness so as to be used as the major material to construct the cells, tissues, organs, and systems of the body. |
