Congratulations to Lin X Tung, a member of our Association, who has been accepted as a doctoral student in the Language and Literacy Studies program within the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the College of Education, the University of Texas at Austin, USA. She has received a full fellowship package awarded by both the Graduate School and the College of Education. Since the 2024-25 academic year, higher education in America has encountered numerous challenges due to political attacks and policy changes. These include major funding cuts, layoffs, and reductions in international student admissions. This year, the University of Texas at Austin's College of Education received over 900 doctoral applications but admitted only about 50-60 students, resulting in an acceptance rate of just 6%. Lin X Tung is the first Taiwanese student in at least eight years to be accepted into the doctoral program in Language and Literacy Studies. She has received highly competitive and prestigious recruitment fellowships funded by the Graduate School, which aim to attract top-quality graduate students. Additionally, Lin X Tung was awarded the Texas New Scholars Fellowship from the College of Education. Note: The University of Texas at Austin’s College of Education is ranked No. 6 among both public and private institutions for Best Education Schools in 2025, tied with Harvard University and ahead of Stanford University (#15). |
